Who is responsible

This open letter and its signatory list are operated by Pedro Beltrao (the data controller). For any question about your data, or to withdraw your signature, contact privacy@scienceintegrity.org.

What we collect

  • Your name, affiliation, job title (optional), position/sector, and country.
  • Your email address (used only to confirm your signature and to contact you about it — never shown publicly).
  • A one-way hashed form of your IP address and your browser user-agent, to prevent abuse.

How we use it

Your name, affiliation, job title, position and country are shown on the public list of signatories to demonstrate support for the letter. Your email is used solely to confirm your signature and, if necessary, to contact you about it. The hashed IP and user-agent are used only to detect and prevent fraudulent or automated signatures.

Lawful basis

We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting the signature form and confirming via email. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see below).

Retention

Your public signatory information (name, affiliation, job title, position and country) is kept as a lasting public record of support for the letter, unless you ask us to remove it. Your email address and anti-abuse data (a hashed form of your IP address and browser user-agent) are operational only and are deleted within 12 months of the signature collection closing, or immediately if you withdraw your signature.

Your rights & withdrawal

You can ask us to access, correct, or permanently delete your data, and you can withdraw your signature at any time, by emailing privacy@scienceintegrity.org. We will remove it from the public list and delete the underlying record.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. The public signatory information is, by design, visible to anyone. We use a hosting provider and an email provider to operate the site; they process data only on our instructions.
